Hourglass: Nightsongs

The concert series Hourglass returns to Brick-15 with a deep dive into the poetry of Langston Hughes (1901 - 1967), a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Hughes’ novels, short stories, plays and poetry is celebrated for its portrayals of Black life in America. His words inspired music by many of his close friends and admirers and this program features many of those songs, with settings by 

H. Leslie Adams, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, John Musto and Ricky Ian Gordon.
